Stop me if you've heard this before, but the Chicago Bears have "won" the offseason. Like they've done several times, the Bears made some splashy moves this offseason, and expectations are high. However, as Green Bay Packers fans know, it's usually a challenge for Chicago to put it all together when it's actually time to play football.
So far, history seems to be repeating itself. New Bears head coach Ben Johnson recently revealed to the media that the team tracks Caleb Williams' completion percentage in practice, and that's where it gets hilarious. When the first-year head coach asked how that's been going, he admitted that the second-year quarterback hasn't been reaching the target.
"Ben Johnson says the Bears are actively tracking Caleb Williams' completion percentage through camp as they've been targeting 70% as a goal," writes NFL analyst Sam Monson. "And he's been under that target."
Ben Johnson is facing a harsh reality with Bears that Packers fans know well
The Bears falling short of goals? Green Bay could've told Johnson that would happen.
Either Chicago is running the greatest smoke screen ever, or things have been really rough for the Bears this camp, because just about everything that comes out seems to be underwhelming for Bears fans. To be fair, training camp is the time to work through rough patches, but Chicago will have to prove it on the field before anyone believes it's a serious threat.

Williams completed just 62.5 percent of his passes last season, and if he's not currently hitting 70 percent in practice, he probably won't make that jump when it's time for actual regular-season games. Still, fans are being told that the NFC North is the toughest division, and that the Bears will join the other three teams as contenders this season.
The Packers, Minnesota Vikings, and Detroit Lions are all stamped, considering each team won at least 11 games in 2024 and made the playoffs. The five-win Bears, on the other hand, are all hype until proven otherwise.
