Bizarre Tyson Bagent conspiracy theory proves just how screwed the Bears are

Chicago is absolutely going through it this week.

It's not like we needed any more reason to make fun of the Chicago Bears, but it's not our fault that new stuff keeps happening.

Broadly put, the Bears are a mess this year. And you could argue that the Bears have been a mess for the last ten thousand years, but it's especially true this season. They were supposed to arrive in a big way this year, and instead are a below-500 football team that's embroiled in locker room drama and team culture controversies.

The latest isn't even real! And yet it's dominated the Bears' news cycle the last 12 hours, which speaks to just how down bad they currently are. According to one (1) single Reddit comment (I know, I get it) backup quarterback Tyson Bagent – or maybe his dad? – was the person who leaked a story about how the Bears' vets asked the team to bench Caleb Williams.

No one actually knows whether it's true or not, but Bears fans are way past that point anyways. Everything is a disaster now, just as it should be.

Reddit thinks that Tyson Bagent's dad is trying to tank the Bears' season

In case you don't have time in your day to scour the internet for speculative Reddit comments, here's the backstory:

A few days ago, a radio host in Chicago claimed that he'd heard that veterans on the Bears asked coaches to bench Caleb Williams. That was obviously a big ol' deal, and it was kinda hinted at by others in NFL media, including Adam Schefter on ESPN's morning show Get Up.

Then, a *bunch* of other people came out and said, actually, that didn't happen. Rival radio stations got involved, random podcasts started their own (apparently) sourced reports, and voilà! Just like that, it was the biggest story of the day in Chicago. You'd almost forget that they were playing the Packers this weekend.

The best part about this is that absolutely no one knows if it's true or not. The Bears – and Bears fans – have manifested an entire day (and maybe more?!) of misery out of thin air. It is the kind of feat that only a fanbase like them could pull off so effortlessly. It doesn't even matter how real it is – it's already ruined Bears fan's week, and that's good enough for me.
