Xavier McKinney absolutely torches DJ Moore for lack of effort ahead of Week 11 clash

So it's going to be one of THOSE games, huh.

Xavier McKinney is a great quote. In fact, I'd argue that Xavier McKinney is the best quote in Green Bay's locker room.

The Packers' safety has already garnered a reputation for keeping it extremely real during his first year with the team, whether he's criticizing the other team's performance or his own teammates. It's a refreshing change of pace from the usual week-long slog of media-team approved answers, even if it does occasionally come at the cost of a little controversy. (All press is good press, or something.)

But reader, you are not ready for McKinney's most recent quote. There's trash talk, and then there's trash talk. On Wednesday afternoon, McKinney talked with The Athletic's Packers reporter Matt Schneidman about this weekend's upcoming game in Chicago.

And really, he didn't talk about the game as much as he talked about one very specific player: Bears wide receiver DJ Moore. Moore's been the topic of his own little controversies this year in Chicago, and McKinney wasted absolutely no time whatsoever pointing that out, and letting everyone know how he feels about it. At the risk of being a prisoner of the moment, it's the stuff of legend.

Xavier McKinney is already coming at DJ Moore and Week 11 hasn’t even started yet

"(Moore) is another one of those guys, same guy, play's still going on and you walk off the field on your offense. You know, you take note of that ... I've been playing (NFL) football for five years now and I've been watching football for longer than that and I don't think I've ever seen a … You're supposed to be the guy and you're just walking off the field. You're walking off the field on a rookie quarterback that you've been praising, so it's like, that's a whole other story."

YO. What?! Are players even allowed to reach this level of actual trash talk anymore? Maybe the most wild part about this is that McKinney didn't even stop there, as he went on to more-or-less call Moore a liar for saying he walked off the field in the middle of a play because of an injured ankle.

So, to recap: a Packers player called out a Bears player for not only being lazy, but for being a bad locker room influence and, just for good measure, called him a liar too. We're so back.
