Blockbuster Packers-Micah Parsons trade proposal leaves Jerry Jones with no choice

The Green Bay Packers fielded one of the best defenses in the entire NFL last season. They ranked sixth in scoring defense and fifth in total yards allowed as they finished the year with an 11-6 record. Still, adding a game-changer like Micah Parsons could make this unit unstoppable.

Parsons has been one of the best pass-rushers in the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys. He has recorded 52.5 sacks, 112 quarterback hits, nine forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, nine passes defended, and one defensive touchdown -- earning Pro Bowl honors in each of his four seasons and All-Pro honors three times.

Despite his production, he remains without a new deal as the season rapidly approaches. Alex Kay of Bleacher Report suggested that the Packers should make a move for the superstar by sending Rashan Gary, a first- and third-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, and second- and fourth-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft to Dallas. Here's Kay's proposal:

It would be a no-brainer for the Packers to acquire Micah Parsons for this price

"The Packers have been on the cusp of contending for several years but lack a generational talent like Parsons to anchor their defensive front," writes Kay. "If they are willing to give up a package that includes multiple Day 1 and 2 picks—as well as a quality talent such as Rashan Gary—it could be enough to get Dallas to move on from Parsons this offseason."

The Packers ranked tied for eighth in the league in sacks, recording 45 for the season. They were able to have that success without anyone reaching double-digit sacks.

In fact, Gary -- who finished with 7.5 sacks -- was the only Green Bay player to finish with more than 5.0.

While Gary has been the Packers' best pass-rusher over the past four seasons, they should jump at the opportunity to acquire a true superstar at the position -- especially with only one first-round pick being sent out. Acquiring Parsons would likely require Green Bay to give him a deal north of $40 million annually after Maxx Crosby, Myles Garrett, and T.J. Watt reset the market this offseason.

The price tag should not scare the Packers away, however, as Parsons would turn an already strong defense into one of the best in the league. Meanwhile, Dallas would be able to acquire a pass-rusher who has 32.0 sacks over the past four seasons despite missing nine games.

While he won't be able to replicate the production of the superstar they would be sending away, they won't find a player who will. In this deal, they would at least be able to recoup some of the value for a player that they appear to be uninterested in paying.
