The closer we get to Week 1, the more pressure there will be for a couple of situations around the league to sort themselves out. And, the Green Bay Packers should very well be paying close attention.
One of the bigger storylines that remains unsolved is that of Dallas Cowboys pass rusher Micah Parsons, who continues to wait for a new contract from Jerry Jones. But, trade speculation is building, and NFL Network's insider Ian Rapoport just poured some gas on the fire that is Packers fans' hopes of landing the star pass rusher.
"I would expect that the Packers would be among the teams interested," Rapoport said on the latest Pat McAfee Show.
"That’s the kind of team that I would say, if Micah was going to be traded, that he’d be going to."
Yikes... that oughta make Cowboys fans feel some type of way.
The dream of Micah Parsons in Green Bay is now alive and well among Packer fans
In what mostly sounded like a pipe dream up to this point, the idea of Parsons coming to Green Bay is now at least being discussed by one of the most plugged-in insiders on the planet.
OK... you have our attention, Mr. Rapoport.
At first, over this past weekend, it was the news of the Cincinnati Bengals listening to offers for last year's sack leader, Trey Hendrickson, which had our ears perked up. Now, it's Parsons who could be on the move?
There's no way ... is there?
The thought of Jerry Jones screwing up this bad is both hilarious and somewhat unbelievable. He has said and done his fair share of boneheaded things over the course of his time atop the Cowboys, but this would certainly take the cake. Parsons is not a player you let walk.
In fact, this would rival the Chicago Bears once trading for Khalil Mack almost seven years ago to the day. Parsons is that good. He's 26 years old, entering his fifth season and coming off four-straight Pro Bowls to begin his career and a pair of All-Pro First-Team nods.
The Cowboys wouldn't ... would they?
We keep asking these questions, because it simply sounds insane. Yet, Rapoport is talking about it, so it might not be the most out-of-this-world thought we've ever had.
Wouldn't that be something? The Bears have all this offseason hype, again, including a big preseason win over the Bills, only for the Packers to swoop in and make this kind of noise.
