Brett Favre. Aaron Rodgers. And now Jordan Love. Forever connected, forever compared.
Green Bay Packers fans knew it already, but Love left no doubt on Sunday Night Football that he belongs in this elite-tier quarterback conversation. Not only did his career performance prove too much for Rodgers' Pittsburgh Steelers, but he also made a piece of franchise history.
Love threw an incompletion with 4:17 remaining in the second quarter. The Packers trailed 9-7. By the time another of Love's passes hit the turf, the Packers led 29-19 with 5:39 left in the fourth. He completed 20 consecutive passes, tying Favre's franchise record. Rodgers, who could only helplessly watch from the other sideline, had never done it.
Following the game, Favre congratulated Love for tying his record.
"Congratulations to Jordan Love for his 20-straight completions in a row and the Packers on the big win last night!" Favre posted on X.

Love steps up when the lights shine brightest. His three-touchdown, near-perfect passer rating day against the Dallas Cowboys in the 2024 wild-card round comes to mind. It's closely followed by this performance.
The third-year starter looked sharp in the first half against Pittsburgh, but the offense couldn't get out of its own way. Love didn't allow that to happen from that point on, completing 20 straight passes and taking the game away from the Steelers. Ironically, it was like watching vintage Rodgers.

Packers fans already understood how good Love is. Now, it seems the national audience is catching on.
It's poetic that Love delivered such a stunning performance against Rodgers, as it's Rodgers who taught him what it means to play at an MVP level. Just as Favre taught Rodgers.
It's the Green Bay Way, designed by Ron Wolf. He passed the philosophy down to Ted Thompson, and then Thompson handed the baton to Brian Gutekunst. It's history repeating itself again.
Love had already arrived, but this felt like the true statement game where the rest of the NFL woke up to reality. It just had to come against Rodgers. He just had to tie Favre's record in this game.
