The Green Bay Packers' offensive line faces its most daunting challenge to date against a Denver Broncos pass rush on pace to beat the NFL sack total record set by the 1985 Chicago Bears.

One way to cool the pass rush? Run the football. And, fortunately for the Packers, their running back has been the Broncos' kryptonite throughout his career. Lou Scataglia of Predominantly Orange broke down just how dominant Josh Jacobs has been against the Broncos.

"Jacobs is averaging 96.1 yards per game against the Denver Broncos, and he's also added 181 receiving yards on 17 receptions," writes Scataglia. "Simply put, Jacobs has been flat-out insane when playing the Broncos. He has the most rushing yards and touchdowns against the Broncos than any other team he's gone against."

Packers may need a vintage Josh Jacobs performance against an elite Broncos defense in Week 14

As Scataglia notes, Jacobs has rushed for 769 yards and nine touchdowns at 4.5 yards per carry against the Broncos, while going 8-0 against them. The Packers would love that success to continue on Sunday.

Green Bay has had its struggles finding consistency on the ground this season, and Denver's defense is also phenomenal against the run, allowing just 89 rushing yards per game, the second-lowest total in the NFL.

However, since Sean Rhyan moved to center and Anthony Belton stepped into a starting job at right guard, the Packers have made progress on the ground.

Jacobs averaged just 3.6 yards per carry in the opening seven games this season. In the previous five games, he averaged 4.5 yards per attempt.

Of course, Jacobs' history against the Broncos means little now. For starters, he's on a different team in a different offense. Denver is also a better team than it was during Jacobs' tenure with the Raiders.

Still, some players just have another team's number, and Jacobs' physical running style allows him to fight through contact, even if the Broncos are winning at the line of scrimmage. According to Pro Football Focus, only seven running backs have more yards after contact than Jacobs' 658 this season.

It's a daunting challenge for the Packers' offense, as the Broncos don't have many weaknesses on defense. They have a pass rush on a historic pace and an elite run defense. It'll take a monumental effort from the entire offense and from the defense to keep the game low-scoring.

Green Bay may need to lean heavily on the rushing attack and attempt to control time of possession. It will take another strong Jacobs performance against a team he knows well.
