There's a reason why the Jordan Love Bookmarks account is still thriving on social media.
They never run out of receipts of bad Jordan Love opinions that belong on Freezing Cold Takes. It almost doesn't matter how well Love plays — and let's be honest, he's in the MVP conversation after leading the Green Bay Packers to a 9-3-1 start — many still try to confirm their priors and narratives.
Colin Cowherd was once highly critical of Love, even before he had taken a snap as the Packers' new QB1. Cowherd called Love a "game manager" and said there was "no special there" after *checks notes* his first preseason game in 2023. If there's one thing Love isn't, it's a game manager (to a fault sometimes).
To Cowherd's credit, though, he admitted defeat on that stance a while ago. And now, he's one of Love's biggest supporters.
"Jordan Love is now finally making a surge toward the MVP odds," Cowherd said on 'The Herd.' "We tend to crown young quarterbacks probably before they need to be crowned. I loved Bo Nix as a rookie. He still had a lot of growth. Jayden Daniels, I'm like, that's the best rookie quarterback I've ever seen."
"There's only one quarterback in the NFL, it feels like, is the opposite, who's been great for several years and nobody will crown him: Jordan Love of the Packers."
Colin Cowherd's complete 360 on Jordan Love proves Packers fans were right all along
Cowherd might come up with some wild takes, but to be fair to him, he's now completely flipped on his stance about Love. So much so that he is now calling out the Love haters.
Much of the criticism of Love comes from fans of the Packers' rivals. That's always going to happen. But it's even more surprising when it comes from notable media figures, including former NFL head coaches like Rex Ryan, who went on national TV and said he has "got no love for Jordan Love," and that Love will turn the ball over in the biggest moments.
Maybe he was thinking of Caleb Williams? I mean, he turned the ball over at the worst possible moment last week, just minutes after Love had led a game-winning drive.
Love is often criticized because he "throws too many picks." But Packers fans know that's not true. Anyone could understand that if, you know, they looked up the facts.
While Love was a little interception-heavy early in his career, he has still never had more than 11 in a full season. Patrick Mahomes has thrown 11 or more picks in five different seasons, including both MVP years.
And Love barely turns the ball over nowadays, having thrown only four interceptions in his past 20 games.
It's still surprising how little national love the Packers' third-year starter receives. There's always an excuse. His deep balls are "lucky." It's Matt LaFleur's system. He has a great defense.
Packers fans understand the reality, and the NFL is slowly getting there, too, which is why Love is only now joining the MVP conversation. Cowherd was once one of Love's biggest critics, even before he'd made his first start in the post-Aaron Rodgers era.
But now, Cowherd is such a big fan that he is calling out everyone who doesn't see it. If Love continues at this pace, it's only a matter of time before even the biggest haters have to accept the reality Packers fans have known for years.
