On a nightmarish afternoon for the Green Bay Packers, the team seems to have at least avoided disaster with wide receiver Christian Watson.

Watson suffered a chest injury after a scary landing on Jordan Love's first interception. He immediately left the game and reportedly went to hospital for scans. Thankfully, though, the early signs are encouraging.

First, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that Watson flew home with the team. Shortly after, Watson's father, Tazim Wajid Wajed, posted on X (formerly Twitter) that he is "fine."

It's a huge sigh of relief. Losing Micah Parsons for the season is already a significant blow to the Packers' Super Bowl hopes, but add a long-term injury to Watson on top of that, and it would be well and truly over.

While it seems Watson has avoided a significant injury, it remains unclear if he'll miss any time.

The Packers have a big game coming up against the Chicago Bears on Saturday night. A short week isn't ideal, given how many injuries this team is now dealing with. But with first place in the NFC North on the line, it's about as big a game as the Packers will play in the remaining three weeks of the regular season.

Despite the loss to Denver, Green Bay's playoff hopes remain extremely high. According to The Athletic playoff simulator, the Packers still have a 92 percent chance of reaching the postseason, thanks to the Detroit Lions' loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

Taking home the No. 1 seed is now nearly impossible, but even if the Packers don't regain the NFC North crown, they are close to clinching a playoff berth. Having Watson available in time for the playoffs would be huge.

It became painfully evident how badly they missed him. Watson is the difference-maker in the receiving game, and Green Bay's offense struggled once he exited. He had become the team's true WR1 this season, both for his ability to hurt defenses at every level and also for the opportunities he creates for his teammates by terrifying defensive coordinators.

We'll learn more about Watson's status for Week 16 when the Packers return to practice, but the good news is that it seems he avoided a significant injury.
