Dream Packers target may have crushed their hopes ahead of free agency

[Shakes fists] The Jets!

It's a wonderful time of the year in the NFL right now.

Sure, there are important playoff games going on this weekend. But who cares? There are playoff games every year.

The real fun is happening with teams that aren't good. Because the only thing more fun than winning football games is nailing that free agent prediction, and Packers fans have gotten quite the head start trying to guess who's coming to Green Bay this year. Right now the list consists of just Davante Adams, but I feel like that's a great start. Davante Adams!

Another popular pick has been Jets cornerback D.J. Reed, because apparently the Jets and the Packers are cosmically tied to the hip for the rest of eternity.

The Packers need cornerbacks in the worst way, and it's not like anyone would blame Reed for wanting out of New York. It all seemed too good to be true, and that's because apparently it was. The Jets' decision to hire Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn is, apparently, inspiring certain players – and certain 41-year-old quarterbacks? – to see things through.

If Reed's tweets are any indication – which, of course, they always are for everyone – it seems like he may be one of those guys who's done a 180 on sticking around.

DJ Reed's tweets make me think he may stay with the Jets after all

So few words, so much to read into. It is a great look for the Jets, as Glenn was widely considered one of the best coaching candidates in this year's cycle.

Players all seem to love playing for him, which is nice for Glenn (and Jets fans I guess, but whatever) and miserable for everyone else. I thought we were all on the same page about the Jets' role in the modern NFL ecosystem? Who will we laugh at if the Jets start looking competent? (JK, the Bears.)

As far as single-line tweets go, this one feels like a medium-burger. As long as going to the Jets doesn't become A Thing, I can live with some cryptic tweets.
