Coming off the heels of a disappointing Week 18 loss, the Green Bay Packers have fully shifted toward the playoffs. This weekend, the Packers will travel to take on the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC's Wild Card Round on Sunday afternoon.
The Eagles ended their regular season winning 12 of their final 13 games. Meanwhile, the Packers somewhat stumbled into the postseason dropping three of their final five, including two in a row to division rivals to end the year.
It is certainly a matchup between two teams that come in with a different level of momentum, or lack thereof. But, it's a brand-new season once the playoffs roll around. The regular season is in the rear view, and it's a one-game season from here on out.
If you were to ask one former Eagles star, though, the momentum each team is carrying into the postseason will matter. Rather, the momentum Philadelphia is carrying is going to matter a whole lot more, according to former running back and return specialist Darren Sproles.
Darren Sproles thinks the Eagles will blow out the Packers in the NFC's Wild Card Round
The three-time Pro Bowl selection spoke to NFL personality Kay Adams on Wednesday, during the show Up & Adams. The former Eagles running back was asked how he thinks this playoff game is going to go.
"It's going to be a blowout," replied Sproles.
As Adams reacted appropriately, Sproles then appeared to seriously ask her whether or not the game was in Philadelphia, as if the answer to that question would influence the strength of his opinion. Adams reaffirmed that, yes, this was a home game for his Eagles.
More Packers news
It was a little funny to see Sproles ask that question, when he was so adamant about the end result, at first. Did he truly not know whether this was a home game for the Eagles?
It doesn't necessarily matter all that much, but sure adds a layer of context (and potential humor) to this bit.
In any event, the Packers and Eagles will kick off Sunday afternoon at 3:30pm CT in a battle to move on to the NFC's Divisional Round. And, for those who may not have heard after the regular season finale, quarterback Jordan Love should be good to go for this one as he did not sustain a major injury.
Wide receiver Christian Watson, on the other hand, was not so lucky with his injury news. The Packers' playoff run will have to tread onward without one of their top wideouts.
