For the fifth straight season, much to the chagrin of Cheeseheads everywhere, the Green Bay Packers will spend the NFL's Conference Championship Sunday at home.
For a time during this 2025 season, the Packers looked like genuine contenders to represent the NFC in Super Bowl 60, specifically when they took control of the NFC North at 9-3-1 with a Week 14 win over the Chicago Bears. Sadly, however, that was the last victory they would secure, as they closed out the regular season with four consecutive losses, a stretch during which Micah Parsons suffered a season-ending ACL tear, and Jordan Love went down with a concussion.
As the No. 7 seed in the NFC, Green Bay opened the postseason against none other than the Bears, marking just the third-ever playoff meeting between the longtime rivals. And for 45 minutes, it seemed that the Packers were set to cruise to victory, as they took a 15-point lead into the fourth quarter, only to surrender 25 points in the final frame en route to a heartbreaking 31-27 defeat.
So, that's why Matt LaFleur & Co. will be sitting at home like the rest of us on Sunday watching the Los Angeles Rams take on the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots battle the Denver Broncos.
That said, though, there are a couple of former Packers set to suit up this weekend. Granted, it's not many, but there's obviously one big star that will keep us locked in.
Every former Packers player set to suit up in the NFC and AFC title games
Los Angeles Rams
- WR Davante Adams
- DE Jack Heflin
The most high-profile former Packer vying for a spot in Super Bowl 60, of course, is Rams wide receiver Davante Adams, who made every Green Bay fan smile this past Sunday by helping Los Angeles take down the Bears in the Divisional Round.
The 2014 second-round selection spent eight seasons wearing the Green & Gold and helped the Packers to four NFC Championship Game appearances, ultimately losing all four. Adams, who led the NFL in touchdown receptions during the regular season with 14, will now take shot number five at the Super Bowl, and while some Green Bay fans may still be a little upset with how his run with the Packers ended, it's safe to assume that the majority will be rooting for him.
Defensive end Jack Heflin, who spent the better part of two seasons in Green Bay after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent in 2021, is also with the Rams but appeared in just one game this season and currently resides on the practice squad.
Seattle Seahawks
- DT Jarran Reed
The Seahawks' lone connection to the Packers is backup defensive tackle Jarran Reed, who racked up 52 total tackles and 2.5 sacks in his one season in Green Bay in 2022 before signing a three-year deal to return to Seattle for a second stint ahead of the 2023 campaign.
Denver Broncos
- TE Marcedes Lewis
Moving to the AFC side of things, the Broncos also have just one connection to Green Bay, that being veteran tight end Marcedes Lewis, who spent five seasons with the Packers from 2018 to 2022.
However, the 41-year-old, who is in his 20th NFL season, by the way, isn't likely to suit up, as he currently resides on the practice squad, where he's spent most of the season. While Lewis did appear in five regular-season games for Denver, even getting one start, he was never targeted.
New England Patriots
Last and certainly least, we come to the Patriots, who have exactly zero ties to the Packers heading into the AFC title game.
There was a quick connection between the two clubs this season, as former Green Bay cornerback Corey Ballentine was with New England for a little under a month before being released in late September after appearing in just one regular-season game. Ballentine ultimately ended his year as a member of the Dallas Cowboys.
