It sure sounds like Jaire Alexander's played his last game with the Packers

The vibes during locker room clean-out day were ... not great.

Locker room cleanout day is always good for a juicy quote or two. Emotions aren't quite as high as they are during the end-of-season loss locker room media session, but a new, depressing reality settles in when guys are actually packing up and leaving the building. The season's really over, and a lot of those guys won't be back next year.

For the Green Bay Packers, it's seeming more and more like one of those guys is Jaire Alexander.

The star cornerback missed most of this season with a knee injury, having last suited up in the Packers' Week 10 win against the Bears in Chicago. He was ruled out for every game but the Saints' matchup following that win, and was put on Injured Reserve in early January after undergoing a knee scope to deal with a PCL injury.

The injury issues – along with some up-and-down performances – led to a good majority of Packers fans speculating that his time in Green Bay might be over after this season. And according to the only correspondence anyone got from Alexander on locker room clean-out day, that feels as likely as ever.

Jaire Alexander basically admits that his time in Green Bay has come to an end

Local Green Bay sports reporter Kelly Hallinan set the scene from inside Lambeau Field:

I mean, to Alexander's credit, if you don't have anything nice to say, you're not supposed to say anything at all. So in a way, Alexander's being the mature one here! In another way, he's also extremely signaling that his time as a Packers player has come to an end.

Declining to talk to the media by telling the media a very juicy bit of information about where your head is at right now is certainly one way to approach it!

The bad news is that the Packers are seemingly losing one of their secondary cornerstones of the past seven years. The good news is that it seems like everyone's quietly kinda on board with it. Even more good news is that Keisean Nixon apparently views himself as the Packers' CB1 of the future – and no longer a kick returner – so the front office doesn't even need to worry about replacing Alexander in the draft or free agency! I'm sure that's exactly how it'll play out, too.
