It sure sounds like Romeo Doubs just said goodbye to Packers fans

If only there were a way to know we're in the good old days before leaving them, as Andy Bernard famously said in The Office. Alas, that isn't possible until time travel becomes reality, as wide receiver Romeo Doubs and his Green Bay Packers comrades are experiencing firsthand.

Doubs is slated to hit unrestricted free agency this offseason and has priced himself out of the Packers' range after a productive albeit inconsistent campaign. It's no secret that he may have already played his last down for the club. However, his and multiple Green Bay players' social media activity all but confirmed a breakup is imminent.

As many do at the end of their season, Doubs commemorated another year in the books with an online post. His caption read more like a farewell message to Green Bay fans than him gearing up to represent them in 2026, as the comments also suggest. Yet, that was only the beginning of a flurry of indicators from other members of the Packers.

Romeo Doubs shares what feels like a final sign-off to Packers fans

"I am only thankful and grateful," Doubs wrote, accompanied by a series of photos of him and his Packers running mates from 2025. "Another year of ball, and growth. The connectedness and camaraderie goes a long way. God I ask that you guide my steps moving forward."

It sounds like Doubs is preparing to take his talents elsewhere in the coming months. He also shared an Instagram story of himself and Packers wideouts Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, and Dontayvion Wicks, among others. Why reminisce so fondly if you're all on the same team?

Reed and Watson ostensibly agree but hope to see Doubs and the Packers work out a contract extension, considering they each replied with crossed-fingers emojis. The latter and fellow Green Bay pass-catcher Matthew Golden put up their own pictures with Doubs, as did star tight end Tucker Kraft.

Either Watson, Reed, Golden, and Kraft are feeling extra appreciative of their teammate or sense his looming exit. Maybe it's a little bit of both. Either way, it's becoming impossible to ignore the signs that Doubs is on the way out of Green Bay, barring an unlikely turn of events.

Doubs set career-highs in receiving yards (724), yards per reception (13.2), and catch rate (64.7 percent) in his fourth year in the NFL. He led the Packers with 85 targets, so his departure would create a massive void in their passing attack.
