It's time for another edition of "Your Favorite Offseason Topic!" That's right, let's talk Aaron Rodgers, shall we? He's still beloved by many Green Bay Packers fans, although his prime has certainly passed over by this point.

Rodgers re-signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers recently, after another offseason of Rodgers doing what he does best and operating on his own time. Now, we don't know what all led up to the point of Rodgers deciding to come back for another year, but we do know he likely had plenty of people in his ear along the way.

One former Packers teammate and a fan favorite, James Jones, appeared on Sirius XM Radio recently and spoke on the saga. He also happened to let us in on the fact that he was certainly in the camp who wanted the 4-time NFL MVP to come back:

"I text Aaron Rodgers when Mike McCarthy got the job and said 'you gotta play one more.'"

So, we know one former Packers fan favorite was behind Rodgers coming back all along. And, he probably wasn't the only one. I would bet he had a few other ex-teammates in his ear wanting to see what he and Mike McCarthy could do with one more run together.

Aaron Rodgers' best chances at winning with Mike McCarthy are behind him

Unfortunately, this coming season is very likely to end with a "thud" rather than Rodgers and McCarthy hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.

That isn't necessarily a knock on Rodgers or McCarthy, but it is an indictment on the Steelers' organization and how they've put this team together. McCarthy might be a good enough coach to lead the Steelers to the playoffs, and Rodgers might be good enough to manage a playoff team, but what happens in that first postseason game?

The Steelers' defense isn't what it should be. It isn't what fans are used to in Pittsburgh, and there are still some major question marks, especially in the secondary. At the end of the season, will that defense be able to hold up?

Also, the peak of Rodgers' success with McCarthy came during the prime of his career. He is not the same guy he once was. He doesn't have the mobility. Because of that, the pressure is on a Steelers offensive line that's also far from perfect. Pittsburgh has tried different pieces up front, but they still haven't been able to put together that formidable starting five consistently.

It is forever a nice story, Rodgers coming back and reuniting with McCarthy and all, but every Packers fan knows how this will end. It is going to end the same way their last season in Green Bay ended: with disappointment.
