After an uninspiring Sunday Night Football matchup, NBC will have a matchup featuring all of the drama next week. The Green Bay Packers are on the road to take on the Dallas Cowboys. Of course, this is the first time that Micah Parsons will return to Dallas after the offseason trade.
Parsons has the chance to gain some revenge against the Cowboys and team owner Jerry Jones, whose contract negotiation tactics left the pass-rusher ticked off and demanding a trade. Let's just say that Parsons got some more motivation.
While speaking with reporters on Monday, Jones revealed that the Cowboys won't hold a video tribute for Parsons.
“I don't think that's appropriate this way, Emmitt (Smith coming back) was a different story. But that's not to diminish Micah. I think Micah's got enough welcome out there. We just need to show we've got antidotes for that," said Jones, h/t Jon Machota of The Athletic.
Jerry Jones gave Micah Parsons bulletin board material by not holding video tribute in Dallas return
Jones noted that they did a video tribute for Emmitt Smith, which took place back in 2003 when he returned as a member of the Arizona Cardinals, the team he signed with as a free agent. The Cowboys held one for Ezekiel Elliott in 2023 when he left in free agency and signed with the New England Patriots.
Parsons circumstances are much different. Jones thought he negotiated a new deal with Parsons, but the defender wanted his agent involved in talks. Jones didn't want to do that, as he said he only negotiates with the player. Parsons requested a trade, and after some time, the Packers made the Cowboys an offer they couldn't refuse.

The Packers brought in Parsons in exchange for two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark. The Packers also signed Parsons to a four-year, $186 million contract, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.
It was a messy split for both sides, but Parsons thanked the Cowboys' fan base and the city of Dallas in a statement on social media.
The Packers are looking to bounce back after a rough upset loss to the Cleveland Browns. Perhaps a motivated Parsons can help them get back in the win column against his former team. It certainly helps that the Cowboys' offensive line is without two of their starters in guard Tyler Booker and center Cooper Beebe. So, how many sacks will Parsons have Sunday night?
