Since taking over as the full-time starter for the Green Bay Packers, Jordan Love has been everything the the team hoped he would be. With Love under center, the Packers have gone 18-14 over the last two seasons, with two trips to the playoffs and one playoff win. Now, entering year three of the Love era, expectations are higher than ever; unfortunately, so is the disrespect.
Henry McKenna, in a recent piece for FOX Sports, ranked all 32 quarterbacks following the news of Aaron Rodgers joining the Pittsburgh Steelers. McKenna says he “took a look at what the outlook is for all 32 QBs and ranked them for 2025 with a focus on how things changed around each signal-caller over the offseason.” The end result was a ridiculous ranking for Jordan Love.
The Green Bay signal-caller was ranked No. 13. To make matters worse, Love was one spot behind Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who hasn’t played a regular-season snap in the NFL.

That's pretty indefensible considering that Love is a quality quarterback with a promising future still ahead of him. This isn’t an example of a promising young QB being ranked ahead of an old veteran whose best days are behind them; it’s a complete unknown being ranked ahead a really good quarterback. While it’s hard to make sense of that, McKenna tried his best to.
The analyst didn’t explain why McCarthy was higher than Love, instead just offering a brief breakdown for both. For the Packers quarterback, McKenna said Love just needs eliminate his bad plays, even if that means sacrificing explosive highlight plays. For McCarthy, McKenna argued that he was already set up for success by being the Vikings’ quarterback, but since he is talented as well, “McCarthy might look like 2023 Brock Purdy.”
That could all be true, but it hasn’t happened yet. What has happened is two seasons of really good play from Jordan Love. To place him behind J.J. McCarthy is not only premature, but disrespectful. However, Love will have the ultimate say with his play on the field.
