It's not exactly news that the Green Bay Packers' success hinges on franchise quarterback Jordan Love; he's their North Star. However, his efforts are ultimately contingent upon the overall offensive operation.
Several things must fall into place for Love to be the MVP-caliber star he's proven himself to be. The protection needs to be right, and the supporting cast has to help, with the play-caller (head coach Matt LaFleur) pushing the right buttons. Heck, even the defense ought to do its part and put the 2020 first-round pick in advantageous field positions.
Of course, Love "finally [cementing] his elite status" is the "best-case scenario" for Green Bay's scoring unit, as Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report highlighted. And with better luck in the injury department and a sophomore leap from 2025 first-round wide receiver Matthew Golden, that's firmly within reach this season.
Packers could get the true Jordan Love breakout they've been waiting for
Whether the Packers can check off all of the requisite boxes for Love to flourish remains to be seen. If they do, though, the sky's the limit for the upcoming campaign, just like Knox outlined.
"Ideally, things will change in 2026," Knox wrote. "Love will stay healthy, get Tucker Kraft (torn ACL) back in the lineup, get a big second-year jump from receiver Matthew Golden, and consistently perform like one of the league's four or five best signal-callers.
"Love was close to great last season, posting a career-best (as a starter) 101.2 QB rating. If he can build on that and be great, Green Bay should have a top-10 offense and a team capable of making a postseason run."
Tucker Kraft is the key to the Packers' passing attack, and every update regarding his rehab process is more encouraging than the last. The star tight end sounds motivated to pick up where he left off before getting hurt. Having him back at full strength and eager to return to form is imperative for a true Love breakout.
Then there's Golden, whom Green Bay rearranged the deck chairs for this offseason, which raises expectations. The club has told us they're betting on his talent with their actions. His growth (or lack thereof) alongside newly paid veterans Christian Watson and Jayden Reed will be crucial for Love.
Put it all together, and Knox believes the stars could align for Love to enter the top-five QB discussion. It's hard to argue with the logic either, assuming Kraft doesn't look worse for wear or suffer any setbacks and Golden makes meaningful strides.
By many indicative metrics, Love's already on the cusp of being a top-tier guy. He had the eighth-highest big-time throw rate (5.9 percent) among players with at least 50 dropbacks this past year, including the playoffs. Moreover, his 7.6 yards per attempt was tied for ninth under the same qualifier, per Pro Football Focus ($).
