Jordan Love's crazy Matt LaFleur story is the best part of the Packers' Week 6 win

Spoiler alert: he's good at coaching.

Matt LaFleur truly lived the dream on Sunday.

If you want an example of how basically everything went right for LaFleur and the Green Bay Packers during Week 6's win against Arizona, look no further than Jordan Love's postgame interview.

When asked about Christian Watson's 44-yard touchdown catch – in his first game back from an ankle injury that kept him out last week – Love casually dropped a detail that will only make Packers fans more smug about LaFleur at everyone else's expense. (And, to be honest, it's kind of hard to blame them this time around.)

Matt LaFleur is drawing up 44-yard touchdown passes on the sideline apparently?

According to Love, LaFleur drew up this 44-yard touchdown to Watson on the sideline during the game.

"That was a great play that Matt dialed up on the sideline," Love said in his postgame press conference. "It was something we didn't even have in [the playbook] this week. We talked about it, dialed it up, and went out there and executed it. And it worked out perfect."

"Its something that's in our system," LaFleur added. "We were just looking at the pictures, and seeing how they responded to when we tried to hit Tucker [Kraft] on what we call a sail route earlier, and just noticed how the backside safety was playing it. It was just one of those sideline adjustments. We had that play up a couple weeks ago. Not the formation or anything like that, but these guys have banked reps on things, and as a coach, you have confidence that they can go out and execute it."

I assume this happens more often than NFL fans hear about, but it's still kinda insane. When was the last time that we heard about an NFL coach just drawing up an entirely new play right before running it? The Packers also deserve plenty of credit for going out and executing something totally new on the fly, but I just can't get over the fact that it was drawn up, like, 45 seconds before.

More random plays, Matt LaFleur! Don't even have a game script against the Houston Texans next week! Just shoot from the hip every play. If you only did it once on Sunday and scored a touchdown, think about how many you'll score next week! "Not having plays" is the NFL's new Moneyball, and it's not surprising to see LaFleur on the forefront of that.
