The Green Bay Packers look to take that next step in their team development and become Super Bowl contenders. The easiest pathway for that to happen is for Jordan Love to continue taking strides.

While the team is confident they have found their franchise quarterback, Love still has some areas of his game that need to improve, and footwork is one of them.

He has taken that personally and made it a focus for him this offseason. When speaking to reporters, Love said he's been working on his footwork in the pocket and not bailing too quickly.

"My biggest thing that I've noticed since I got back is just my feet in the pocket, trying to be as smooth and consistent as possible," Love said, via ESPN's Rob Demovsky.

"When I go through my reads, get into my hitches and not getting antsy, not getting to that point where you're trying to move through the pocket too fast. If I've gotta move around in the pocket, keeping those movements pretty tight and not kind of running into where guys might be peeling off and able to hit you."

Love making it known that this is a part of his game that he's seeking to elevate is exactly what you want to see from your signal caller. If he's able to take steps in that area, it will only benefit Green Bay that much more.

Jordan Love's focus will have positive ripple effect on Packers

Demovsky also reported that during Wednesday's practice against the No. 1 defense, Love was forced to roll out the pocket left before looking right and uncorking a bomb to receiver Jayden Reed on the opposite sideline that would have been a 70-yard touchdown.

Fine-tuning his footwork will help him in situations like that. Finding ways to navigate the pocket and stay in there longer allows receivers more time to get open, but keeping the footwork intact is what will help Love deliver more accurate passes.

Love has a knack for drifting back in the pocket and throwing the ball off his back foot. While he's been able to hit dimes while throwing off-platform, that is a bad habit to continue. Those are things that can come back to bite you, so nipping them in the bud is helpful.

Everyone knows that Love has one of the strongest arms in the league to hit deep passes, but no one is above having proper mechanics. The best quarterbacks in the league do all the little things, and proper footwork is at the top of the list. Throwing off your back foot is risky.

If Love can find ways to stick in the pocket longer while keeping his footwork intact, the Packers will see another level of his game get unlocked. And that would be scary for the rest of the league, considering he had thrown for 11,535 passing yards and 83 passing touchdowns over five seasons.
