No, this topic isn't going to go away -- not until the Green Bay Packers address the elephant in the room.
That elephant? The words spoken recently by running back Josh Jacobs in regards to his teammates in the wide receiver room.
Jacobs told reporters just a few weeks ago that he believed the team needed to go after a true, no. 1 wide receiver in order for the club to compete further in 2025. And, while he's not wrong, the comments might have been taken in a different light depending on which teammate of his you ask.
Right or wrong, the Packers do need to find an alpha at the position. Most fans would agree that the wide receiver group has a few no. 2 or no. 3 guys, but no true leader of the pack.
In the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft, Green Bay might find themselves in position to land exactly that.
Packers find their no. 1 wide receiver in this 3-Round NFL mock draft
At pick no. 23 overall, Green Bay not only grabs the best player on the board but a legitimate candidate to become their alpha wide receiver.
Ohio State's Emeka Egbuka is your prototypical starting wide receiver. He isn't going to blow you away with blazing speed or unbelievable athleticism, but rather he does a lot of things very well. He is polished.
Egbuka stands 6-foot-1 and has the size to be an alpha. He's phenomenal at tracking the football and adjusting to throws in the air. His route running is already pro-level and he's a smart, aware football player. Egbuka simply wins. It's easy to see when watching his tape. This is a player who will end up having a long NFL career and a wide receiver who could be the Packers' leader of the pack in a hurry.
With Egbuka in the fold, guys like Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks will have more room to operate and execute in the areas they do best. Christian Watson, when healthy, will have an opportunity to really exploit deeper areas of the field as well.
In Round 2, the Packers take their shot on trying to replace Jaire Alexander, who is undoubtedly on his way out of Green Bay. Azareye'h Thomas brings a ton of size and physicality to the cornerback position.

At 6-foot-2 and a willing tackler, Thomas has the makings of a strong outside corner. His long arms, ball skills and overall production are reason enough to believe he's going to be a very good player at the pro level.
In Round 3, the Packers add a pass rusher and thus bolsters their depth at the position. Ashton Gillotte looks every bit of a Packer. He's a powerful, strong pass rusher who excels in the plain, old bull rush. Gillotte has also proven effective against the run as well.
He is a high-effort, high motor type of player which Green Bay would love to add, especially late on Day 2.
