Matt LaFleur's admission about Jordan Morgan should have Packers fans smiling

• That should quell concerns.

There's no doubt that the Green Bay Packers did a good job of addressing roster voids in the offseason. That said, they probably didn't do enough to beef up the offensive line.

While the cupboard isn't fully bare, they have a couple of question marks at a handful of positions up front. Similarly, their depth leaves much to be desired, and Jordan Love could be in trouble if injuries strike the offensive trenches.

But despite the concerning outlook, head coach Matt LaFleur believes the Packers don't have any doubts about Jordan Morgan stepping in at left tackle.

The Packers see noticeable growth in Jordan Morgan

Matt LaFleur met with the local media after an OTA practice. He heaped praise on Jordan Morgan, arguing that he's built consistency and has grown as a leader.

"Jordan's been awesome, man. Like every year, he just continues to grow as a leader; his consistency is remarkable," LaFleur responded when asked what's the next step for Morgan (9:51 mark). "Who he is on a daily basis, showing up, how he works, how he leads others, he's pulling guys with them. So I'm really excited about what is in store for him."

With Rasheed Walker bolting in free agency, Morgan is the favorite to protect Jordan Love's blind side. That wouldn't be an issue if it weren't for the fact that he's struggled to develop into a mainstay of the offensive line since Green Bay made him a first-round pick in 2024.

Last year, Morgan lost the offseason competition for the starting job at left tackle. He lost and ended up playing guard. However, the Arizona native didn't particularly stand out, giving up four sacks and 25 total pressures. Granted, he's a better fit to line up on the edge, but his play doesn't inspire confidence. This is why Matt LaFleur's endorsement is so meaningful.

If the Packers weren't confident in Morgan, they wouldn't be going with him as the starting left tackle next year. Either that, or general manager Brian Gutekunst didn't properly take care of the offensive line.

The Packers could still add insurance in case Jordan Morgan falters

If Jordan Morgan comes through, the Packers won't have to worry about the left tackle position. However, they could be in trouble if he doesn't. That could spell trouble because they don't have anybody behind him who could step in if he comes crashing down.

This is why, as LA's own Matt Fitzgerald suggested, Green Bay should most definitely explore the possibility of reaching out to the Jacksonville Jaguars to inquire about Walker Little. A second-round pick in 2021, Little was benched in favor of Cole Van Lanen last year but has ample starting experience at left tackle and both guard spots.

Moreover, Little was a dependable starter in 2025, so he has a legitimate chance to bounce back next year. The only roadblock to potentially trading for him is that Van Lanen is recovering from a knee injury, so they may not be willing to part ways with Little until they know Van Lanen is back at full strength.

Either way, it would be a good thing to have options in case Jordan Morgan doesn't show out. Matt LaFleur is confident that he will, but it doesn't hurt to have a backup plan.
