Matt LaFleur gets the last laugh over Lions fan who confronted Packers

Play dumb games, win dumb prizes.

Remember that weird moment in the Detroit Lions game? The one before kickoff where Matt LaFleur and, like, 50% of the Green Bay Packers got into an on-field yelling match with a random Lions fan? Because apparently, that Lions fan was kinda threatening Packers players?

Well, that whole thing finally got resolved. According to several different news organizations in Detroit, the Lions fan – who, if you can believe it, is a season ticket holder – got said season tickets revoked.

He, of course, has hit the media tour in Detroit, talking to literally anyone about how, with the benefit of hindsight, he probably shouldn't have done the throat-slashing gesture to a bunch of professional football players during a nationally broadcasted game.

Lions fan who taunted Matt LaFleur, Packers gets his season tickets revoked

"I love the Lions," he told local Detroit ABC affiliate WXYZ. "The moment, I got caught up in it. I do feel a little bit like maybe I may have embarrassed some fans and the organization, but that is not my intentions at all. I absolutely love the team. I’m sad it worked out this way, but I’m glad we got that win."

You don't say! Actions do have consequences. Just like it's every season ticket holder's right to play dumb games, it's every season ticket holder's right to win dumb prizes. To the fan's credit (I know it's a low bar) it sounds like he's at least admitting that he's aware that he crossed a line.

A little self-awareness goes a long way now. Imagine thinking you're supporting your favorite football team, only to get a very official email from them on Sunday night talking about how much of a letdown you are and how you can't come to games anymore. My social anxiety is flaring up just thinking about it.

So all in all, Matt LaFleur gets the last laugh. Who knows if he's actually laughing, but we'll accept the award on his behalf.
