Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur has kept a pretty low profile over the past couple of months. Truth be told, the only time he's really been seen or heard from since the day after Green Bay blew a 15-point fourth-quarter lead en route to a 31-27 loss to the rival Chicago Bears in the Wild Card Round was when his younger brother was introduced as the new head coach of the Arizona Cardinals in early February.

But the silence has now been broken, as LaFleur spoke to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo over the weekend at the Annual League Meeting in Phoenix, and he used a lot of his time to discuss quarterback Jordan Love.

Last week, Love, who has also been pretty quiet this offseason (it's just the overall theme for the Packers as a whole this year), took some time to talk about how thrilled he is that LaFleur received a multiyear extension. And in his interview with Garafolo, LaFleur returned the favor.

"Many teams in this league are only as good as your guy pulling the trigger, so we feel like we're very fortunate to have one of those guys that I think the sky's the limit for him," LaFleur said.

Matt LaFleur says Jordan Love has "developed into a really good leader" for the Packers

Love, of course, spent the first three seasons of his career sitting behind Aaron Rodgers after the Packers selected him in the first round of the 2020 draft with the 26th overall pick.

The Utah State alum finally took over in 2023 and had a fantastic season, throwing for 4,159 yards and 32 touchdowns en route to leading Green Bay to the playoffs, where he led the seventh-seeded Packers to an upset victory over the second-seeded Dallas Cowboys, earning a near-perfect passer rating of 157.2 after completing 16 of 21 passes for 272 yards with three touchdowns and zero interceptions.

Love has led the Packers back to the playoffs in each of the last two seasons, which should impress Cheeseheads, as neither Rodgers nor Brett Favre took the team to the postseason in their first three years as QB1, but Green Bay has been bounced in the opening round each time.

Nevertheless, LaFleur is confident that he has the right guy under center moving forward.

"We trust each other quite a bit. I would say our relationship's really strong. It's been cool to watch his evolution, not only as a player but as a man," LaFleur said. "From the time we drafted him to where he is now, and he's about to be a dad here really, really soon in a couple weeks. But he's really developed into a really good leader for us."

The 2026 campaign will mark the seventh season that these two have been together, with the only coach-QB combo with a longer current run being Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes. Getting to the playoffs is great and all, but LaFleur and Love are undoubtedly ready to step it up and start hoisting the Lombardi like that other duo has done so many times.
