In case Detroit Lions fans weren't already upset enough about losing to the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving, Matt LaFleur is doing his best to make matters worse.

Right before the end of the first half in Green Bay's 31-24 win over the Lions, the Packers scored a pivotal touchdown after what should have been a false start by rookie offensive lineman Anthony Belton. The Packers would not have gone for it on fourth down had the penalty stood, but the officials congregated and granted Matt LaFleur a timeout.

The problem is, the penalty occurred before LaFleur signaled timeout on the sideline, and everyone in the world watching the game saw it. But LaFleur's story is that he got the timeout called in time, and he's sticking to it.

Matt LaFleur adds insult to Packers win over Lions with reaction to controversial timeout

The question posed to LaFleur after the game is a perfect one: Did the officials get it right?

There's no way LaFleur is going to say anything but what he did: "Of course they got it right."

The wink at the end obviously says it all, although LaFleur definitely needs some work on his winking skills.

At the point in the game where LaFleur was granted a timeout, it was 4th-and-1 and a false start penalty would have pushed the Packers back to a 4th-and-6. The Packers' offense was already lined up to go for it on 4th-and-1 initially, and LaFleur obviously didn't like something he saw before the snap.

The false start penalty, at best, would have wiped four points off the board. The Packers would have lined up for a field goal on 4th-and-6, and gone into halftime with a 13-7 lead. But when the officials decided that LaFleur got his timeout called in time, it gave the Packers a second chance to go for it from short distance.

And Romeo Doubs cashed in on a perfectly called concept by LaFleur.

There are a lot of plays over the course of a game that decide the outcome, but that play was clearly one of the biggest swing moments of the entire game. You just approach a two-score deficit differently than you do a six-point deficit. You can't say the Lions would have won the game if not for LaFleur being granted a timeout, but Lions fans are going to live in the "Butterfly Effect" world over it.

LaFleur's clear acknowledgement that the officials helped him out on this one is only going to make Lions fans even more upset.
