Matt LaFleur shuts down Bears' laughable complaints over blocked field goal
Stop me if you've heard this before, but the Green Bay Packers beat the Chicago Bears on Sunday. It was the Packers' 11th straight win over their division rival, and the win almost didn't happen.
After the Packers took a one-point lead with under three minutes to play, the Bears had plenty of time to make Packers fans sweat. Chicago's offense, which had struggled over the past few weeks, was able to work the ball into Packers territory and waited until there were three seconds on the clock before taking their final timeout to attempt the game-winning field goal.
Well, the Packers did a funny thing and blocked Cairo Santos' potential game-winner, giving Green Bay another win over the lowly Bears. Following the loss, Bears head coach Matt Eberflus couldn't just admit that his team got beat fair and square (which you'd think he'd be used to at this point considering he's failed to beat the Packers once since arriving in Chicago).
More Packers news
Instead, Eberflus is accusing the Packers of being on the Bears long snapper prior to the attempt. Eberflus is going so far as to submitting film of what he thinks is proof of the Packers doing this to the league. Dude, come on.
Matt LaFleur eviscerates Matt Eberflus for silly accusations after blocked field goal
Well, as the Packers often do to the Bears, Matt LaFleur made Eberflus look silly when asked about what the Bears head coach is up to following the loss.
"I've seen a lot of plays where I thought a penalty should've been called, and it didn't happen," said LaFleur. "I thought there were multiple plays in that game. That's why you don't want to leave it in the hands of the officials."
It's going to be a sad day for Packers fans when the Bears finally can Eberflus because he's provided a lot of entertainment in Green Bay. This is just the latest crazy shenanigan from the Bears head coach that has Packers fans chuckling.
As much as Eberflus likes to take responsibility whenever his team loses, he's not doing that here. His team lost fair and square, and it's things like this that don't help his case for keeping his job. Eberflus' team got outplayed and he got outcoached. Time to put on your big boy pants and accept that.
