Micah Parsons just gave Packers fans the R-E-L-A-X moment they needed

The Green Bay Packers have delivered the highest of highs and the most heartbreaking of lows, often in the same season. Facing adversity is nothing new for this fan base.

Here we are again. Just as many penciled the Packers into their Super Bowl predictions after Week 2, the Matt LaFleur firing talk has started after an embarrassing two-game losing run at Lambeau. The concerns are understandable, and it's fair to say LaFleur is legitimately coaching for his job in the season's final eight weeks.

But Micah Parsons provided some perspective following the Packers' humbling loss on Monday Night Football. He didn't point the finger or complain, but showed leadership and confidence that they will turn things around.

"To the fans, they should have hope," said Parsons. "I would not panic. I wouldn't stress. We're going to win football games, I promise you."

"My confidence is still high. I've got Jordan Love at quarterback. I've got Josh Jacobs at running back. We're banged up at wide receiver, but we've still got Doubs, Wicks. We've got the weapons. Don't hesitate. We've got the talent."

Micah Parsons sends a message to Packers fans reminiscent of Aaron Rodgers' 'R-E-L-A-X'

It's a message directed at the fans, reminiscent of Aaron Rodgers' famous "R-E-L-A-X" in 2014. That season, the Packers, tipped as Super Bowl contenders, had started 1-2 after an ugly 19-7 loss to the Detroit Lions.

Rodgers, appearing on a weekly ESPN radio show with Jason Wilde, said: "Five letters here just for everybody out there in Packer land, and yourself today: R-E-L-A-X, relax. We're going to be OK."

And they sure were OK. The Packers won 11 of their final 13 games, secured a first-round bye, and eliminated the Dallas Cowboys en route to the NFC Championship Game in Seattle, which we will not discuss any further and pretend never happened.

It feels a little different now, maybe a little more 2018 wheels-are-falling-off Mike McCarthy era than a prime Rodgers MVP season. Another difference is that Rodgers was in full control of lifting the Packers' offense from their September slump. Here, Parsons can only hope the other side of the ball figures things out.

More specifically, he needs Matt LaFleur to find a winning formula. Opponents have found the antidote to LaFleur's offense, which started with the Cleveland Browns in Week 3 and has worsened into a serious problem.

But Parsons didn't once complain about the offense. Instead, he chose to support his teammates. As long as he's leading an elite defense like we saw on Monday night, the Packers will have a chance to win any game.

We'll soon find out whether we need to R-E-L-A-X about the offense, or whether it's truly time to hit the panic button.
