It's not a secret that the Green Bay Packers are one of the most talented teams in the NFL, and they made a huge splash in the offseason by trading for Micah Parsons. I have said to myself for a while that the Parsons' trade almost felt a bit symbolic, kind of like "yeah, this is the year for the Packers where they put everything together..."
However, through their first five games, something feels off. The Packers have won three of their first five games but have tied against the weak Dallas Cowboys and lost a flat-out stinker of a game against the Cleveland Browns a few weeks ago.
The untimely miscues have really prevented the Packers from breaking out like many of us think they can in 2025, and NFL analyst Mina Kimes recently took note of his and honestly hit the nail on the head with her assessment.

"They have everything required to be the best team in the NFL, and yet, there's these frustrating drives that make no sense," Kimes said on 'The Mina Kimes Show with Lenny'. "Penalties are a common problem, or weird little execution lapses. They just haven't put it all together, which is odd, too, because they're really well coached."
"The defense kind of falls apart at the end of games and it doesn't really make sense. I just watch them and I find them to be a very frustrating team because I feel like they should be so much better than they are."
There's a bit of a mess that has to be cleaned up on both sides of the ball if this team hopes to get into contention, as it feels like the Packers are a lot closer to the Chicago Bears than they are to the Detroit Lions. The Packers have committed 10 false starts this year, which is the third-most in the NFL.

They also rank in the top 10 in both points scored and allowed, and have difference-makers on either side of the ball, but the entire picture has not come together yet. Yes, it is still quite early in the season, so things could change.
Jordan Love is now in his third year as the team's starting QB and already in year six in the NFL, so he could be approaching his ceiling as well.
Overall, the Packers are a good team, but they're far from a great one. That's the main issue with this franchise, and until they can get out of their own way and begin stacking wins like a great team can, they'll never get out of this rut and will continually fall short in the playoffs.
