The Green Bay Packers finished last season with 11 wins but were somehow third in the division because the NFC North is arguably the toughest in the league. Nevertheless, the Packers were one of the top teams in the league, but they had to play the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in the first round of the playoffs.
While Green Bay’s postseason ended much quicker than everyone hoped, the franchise was still able to enter the offseason with optimism.
Now, the Packers are returning a talented young team and are ready to establish their dominance. While it will be a tough challenge for Green Bay to win the aforementioned competitive NFC North, most people agree the Packers will find their way into the postseason one way or another. However, the team does have a few doubters entering the season.

Vic Tafur, in a recent piece for The Athletic, went over each team’s projected win total and predicted whether teams will go over or under. For the Packers, the win total was listed at 9.5, and Tafur argued in favor of taking the under.
"The Packers needed a pass rusher and a No. 1 receiver this offseason, and they still do," writes Tafur. "They drafted receiver Matthew Golden in the first round but he is more of a project than an impact newcomer, and they figure to lean heavily on running back Josh Jacobs again. Which is fine. The Packers signed guard Aaron Banks for a lot of money, but he is not a sure-fire guy."
Tafur finished by asking: "Could Jordan Love elevate the whole operation? Sure, but do you really want to bet on that?"
The Athletic argues Packers could win less than 10 games in 2025
Winning nine or less games usually means a team isn’t going to the postseason. Tafur explained that could be Green Bay’s reality because, in his eyes, the team didn’t adequately address their top needs of edge rusher and wide receiver.
With various concerns throughout the roster, Tafur said everything for the Packers could come down to whether or not quarterback Jordan Love elevates the team. In the end, the writer wasn’t sure betting on Love was a good idea.
Tafur has a fair point about the different concerns on the roster. It’ll be up to the players at those positions to prove they can get the job done for Green Bay. The same goes for Love. While he has proven his talent, it’s time for him to be a consistent force this season and elevate the Packers to contender status.
If Love takes another step in his development, Green Bay should definitely win more than nine games, and possibly much more.
