The NFL is determined to destroy Jordan Love's Toyotathon legend

Toyotathon Jordan Love isn't a myth or a conspiracy theory, it's a full-blown fact — and the NFL is trying to ruin it.

In Love's two seasons as a starter, he has come to life during the Toyotathon sales event.

The numbers tell the full story. In Love's regular-season games outside of Toyotathon, he has thrown for 3,829 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 20 interceptions. In contests during Toyotathon, Love has 3,719 yards, 28 touchdowns, and only two picks.

He switches from Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers. The touchdowns and big plays don't go away, but he stops turning it over.

The Toyotathon theory is so accurate that Toyota even made a deal with Love after the season.

But here comes the NFL to ruin it. There's a reason why it's called the No Fun League — their latest attempt to squash Love's magical run is to stack the odds against him.

Packers will have to run the gauntlet when the calendar turns to Toyotathon season

If Toyotathon kicks off at the same time this season, the Packers will get eight games, of which five are on the road. They also get no break during this run. Here's Green Bay's schedule from Week 11:

  • Week 11: at New York Giants
  • Week 12: vs. Minnesota Vikings
  • Week 13: at Detroit Lions (Thanksgiving)
  • Week 14: vs. Chicago Bears
  • Week 15: at Denver Broncos
  • Week 16: at Chicago Bears
  • Week 17: vs. Baltimore Ravens
  • Week 18: at Minnesota Vikings

Talk about a brutal stretch. Not only do they face five on the road and four division games, but they must also travel to Detroit on a short week. The Packers need Love to save Thanksgiving.

Matt LaFleur's team will also travel to Denver, which hasn't been kind to Green Bay on recent trips, while getting three home games against the Vikings, Bears, and Ravens. That's a tough eight-game stretch.

The benefit is that the Packers will be battle-tested by the time they reach the playoffs, should they qualify.

Their schedule gives them several home games to begin the season, along with an early bye, but they will pay the price during Toyotathon. The league can try to take him down, but all this will do is make Toyotathon Love even stronger.
