NFL insider just threw fuel on the Romeo Doubs trade fire

If only by pure speculation and fan buzz, it feels like the Green Bay Packers will end up trading wide receiver Romeo Doubs sooner rather than later.

Since the Packers took two wide receivers early in the 2025 NFL Draft, the writing seems to have been on the wall for Doubs. We have tried putting all of the puzzle pieces together, this offseason, and it feels a lot like there's one particular destination surfacing.

Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer only furthered the speculation over Doubs and the Pittsburgh Steelers in his latest column, too:

"With Pickens gone from Pittsburgh, it’s worth mentioning that Aaron Rodgers used to speak very highly of Romeo Doubs’s football IQ and route-running ability. If Rodgers is there, it might be worth the Steelers calling the Packers to try to bring in a familiar face for the quarterback."

It feels like only a matter of time before the Packers trade Romeo Doubs to reunite with Aaron Rodgers

There is only one way this offseason comes to a close, right?

The Steelers have been awaiting a decision from Aaron Rodgers now, for a while, and their quarterback room is about as thin as it gets. Mason Rudolph and rookie sixth-round pick Will Howard are the options.

That's it.

Pittsburgh also traded for wide receiver DK Metcalf earlier this offseason, and he got a chance to get a throwing session in with Rodgers already after the veteran gunslinger visited the facilities.

It would only make sense for Rodgers to ultimately pick the Steelers and then ask Omar Khan to make the deal that lands Doubs back as one of his right-hand men.

The only question, here, would be what the Packers would get in return for Doubs. Pittsburgh just netted a third-round pick for trading George Pickens, so it will be interesting what Green Bay could get for Doubs.

Regardless, if Packers fans were convinced that a Doubs trade was imminent, I wouldn't blame them. It seems like the obvious next move for this franchise before we get too into the offseason program.
