Perfect Romeo Doubs trade landing spot just hit Packers in the face

Something has to give. As the Green Bay Packers' wide receiver room becomes more crowded, the calls for a trade become louder.

Romeo Doubs' future remains a mystery. He has been connected to several wide receiver-needy teams, including the New York Jets. However, it's no longer Aaron Rodgers' former team, but his likely future team that should receive attention.

The perfect trade partner couldn't be more obvious for the Packers. Enter the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Doubs only has a year remaining on his contract. Last season, the Packers suspended Doubs for one game after reportedly being "upset with his opportunities in the passing game." Green Bay adding Matthew Golden, Savion Williams, and Mecole Hardman this offseason isn't exactly going to increase Doubs' target total.

Talk about a win-win. The Packers and Steelers would benefit, and hey, so would Rodgers.

Packers trading Romeo Doubs to Steelers would make so much sense after George Pickens blockbuster

Pittsburgh created a need for a No. 2 wide receiver after sending Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys. Doubs is perfect for that role. He would get far more opportunities in Pittsburgh's passing game, especially if he is reunited with Rodgers.

As Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated notes, "Rodgers was very fond of Romeo Doubs when they were together."

The Packers can't ask for a better trade partner. The Steelers are in the AFC, removing any concerns of Doubs strengthening a rival within the conference.

There should also be some urgency from Green Bay's end. Doubs' rookie contract expires next offseason, and the Packers have time to receive draft capital in return before he walks for nothing.

With Golden and Williams joining Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, and Tucker Kraft, Jordan Love already has a quality receiving corps to throw to. Christian Watson will return at some point this season, too.

Doubs has shown the potential to become a reliable WR2 but has never quite become consistent enough. That might come down to a lack of opportunities as a result of a Packers offense designed to spread the ball around.

The Packers should listen to trade calls about Doubs, and the perfect landing spot couldn't be more obvious after the Pickens deal.
