No-brainer Rashan Gary trade proposal is too good for Packers to refuse

The Green Bay Packers didn't exactly "deplete" their future NFL Draft war chest with the Micah Parsons trade, but they will still have to find ways to supplement the two first-round picks they lost. Even with the NFL trade deadline in the past, we can still put one eye on the 2026 offseason and take a look at ways the Packers could make even more bold moves to reload the roster.

One player who could be traded in the 2026 offseason is former first-round pick Rashan Gary. Gary has 7.5 sacks this season, but oddly enough, has been limited in the snaps he's been playing with Kingsley Enagbare getting more run lately. Gary's pressures have also declined as the season has gone on.

Even Micah Parsons's brother is sounding off on the possibility...

Patriots can give the Packers a Rashan Gary trade offer they can't refuse in 2026

If there's one team we should be on the lookout for to make an aggressive move in the 2026 offseason to upgrade their roster via trade, it's got to be the New England Patriots, right? The Patriots have been one of the top breakout teams in the NFL in 2025 thanks to the arrival of head coach Mike Vrabel and the emergence of young quarterback Drake Maye.

Even though the Patriots have played well this year, they are currently a roster playing above its means. There's plenty of work yet to be done in building that team on both sides of the ball, and the addition of a physical edge defender like Gary would be huge for Vrabel's defense.

What kind of offer could New England make that the Packers probably wouldn't be able to refuse? A second-round and fourth-round pick might get it done.

Even with Gary racking up 7.5 sacks (and counting) this season, his age and contract situation likely won't allow the Packers to get a first-round pick back for him. He will be 28 in December and playing in his age-29 season in 2026. Getting a second-round pick for him alone might be enough for the Packers, but if the Patriots could sweeten the pot with another solid Day 3 selection, it would give the Packers some much-needed ammo.

And that goes beyond just the NFL Draft.

Trading Gary next offseason would give the Packers nearly $11 million in cap savings, which would more than double their current projected 2026 salary cap space (Over The Cap).

We could see the Packers active in a number of trades yet again next offseason. This is a roster that is absolutely loaded in certain areas, and while they have one of the most talented all-around groups in the NFL, the Packers might have to trade away some of their depth in order to address other areas of weakness.

And a situation like Gary's is worth monitoring even closer this offseason, with his snaps decreasing and other guys stepping up at that position during the season.
