Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has long suffered from terrible PR. Despite making highlight-worthy plays week in and week out, Love always seems to be underrated by the general football-watching public.
This year, however, something seems to be different. Love's preseason hype is growing at an exponential rate thanks in large part to the latest PFF quarterback rankings.
As the start of the regular season approaches, PFF has made multiple posts revealing the top three to five quarterbacks in several sophisticated statistics. Jordan Love's name can't seem to stop popping up.
Advanced data points to Jordan Love as arguably the NFL's most underrated quarterback
To paraphrase Ernest Hemingway, courage is grace under pressure. And Jordan Love certainly personifies that on the gridiron.
Quarterbacks often have to stare down the barrel and either evade defenders, or get obliterated as they release the ball by defenders who can run, oh, 100 pounds larger than them.
Love holds the fourth-best sack-avoidance rate. When his pocket is kept clean? He's captured the second-highest passing grade at 94.2. And when it comes to generating "big-time throws", the kind of throws that are the most difficult while reaping the biggest rewards, Jordan Love finished in the top three among full-time starters.
Love is also present in PFF's quarterback ranking, though he may sit higher than most fans expect. He is ranked 6th, just behind reigning MVP Matthew Stafford and ahead of names like Justin Herbert (7th), Dak Prescott (8th), and Caleb Williams (13th).
The stats used in these rankings are a little more granular than yards per game or total touchdowns, but they do help to understand how the Packers QB stands apart from much of his competition. His ability to make huge plays downfield with pinpoint accuracy isn't a case of being lucky, it's a play style that highlights Love's adaptability and places him among the best passers in the NFL.
With so many elite quarterbacks in the NFL, it's tough to stand out, especially when you aren't as gifted in the rushing game as Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson. But Love continues to finish near the top of the leaderboard in many of the stats that separate the greats from the pretenders.
A top-six placement from the most well-known database in football is just another sign that the rest of the league recognizes Jordan Love as a key reason for Green Bay's sustained competitiveness as they enter 2026 with sights set on a Super Bowl.
