For Green Bay Packers fans who follow along with other teams, it's probably been easy to notice how down on their luck the rival Minnesota Vikings are when it comes to their wide receiver position. The Vikings will not only not have Jordan Addison for three games while he serves a suspension but Jalen Nailor also suffered a hand injury recently, making things even more dire for the Vikings.
According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the Vikings are exploring a trade for a veteran wide receiver to help them out of this bind. Why is this relevant for the Packers? Well, because they've previously been considering shopping Romeo Doubs and he could make a lot of sense for the Vikings to target. The Packers cannot consider this as an option.
Packers have no business rescuing Vikings from painful WR mess
While the Packers have contemplated shopping Doubs for quite some time now, trading within the division is rare. The last thing the Packers would want to happen is for them to trade Doubs somewhere and he becomes a full-blown superstar. Now imagine if that happened but with a division rival; The Packers would be forced to go up against their old draft pick twice a year for the foreseeable future. No thank you.
While high-profile trades within the division have occurred (T.J. Hockenson going from Detroit to Minnesota is a recent example), the Packers need to let the Vikings continue to be miserable. They practically have a rookie quarterback taking over the reins and while J.J. McCarthy will have Justin Jefferson to throw to as his main target, it's slim pickings aside from him.
Why should the Packers help the Vikings out of their own mess? There are plenty of other non-NFC North teams that could be interested in trading for Doubs, so be patient and wait for a good offer to come from one of them. In the meantime, enjoy the wide receiver mess that the Vikings suddenly find themselves in.
