From 2-0 to 2-1-1, the Packers need to right the ship quickly.

Through the first two weeks of the 2025 NFL season, everything was coming up Green Bay Packers. They trounced the Lions in Week 1 and then cruised to 2-0 with an easy win over the Commanders in Week 2. Since then, however, things have been murky at best.

The Packers lost to the Browns in stunning fashion in Week 3 and then tied with the lackluster Cowboys this past weekend. They're now entering their Week 5 bye at 2-1-1, which was not on anyone's bingo card after the dominant 2-0 start when Packers fans were probably eyeing hotels in the Santa Clara area for the Super Bowl.

The week off gives head coach Matt LaFleur time to flip the script on the Packers' biggest weaknesses so far. Those weaknesses have been time management and special teams miscues, both of which have hurt Green Bay significantly in their two non-wins.

Matt LaFleur has to fix the Packers' biggest issues over the bye week

Time management-wise, fans will know exactly the biggest talking point here. What the heck happened on that final play against the Cowboys? The Packers wasted so much time getting that disastrous play off and it nearly resulted in a loss, which would have dropped them to 2-2. LaFleur needs to ensure that something like that doesn't happen again and make sure this team improves in those situations.

The special teams miscues have also been a major talking point for this team and for good reason. In both of Green Bay's non-wins, special teams has allowed for a field goal attempt to be blocked and both times it's come back to haunt the Packers in a big way.

In the first instance against the Browns, it led directly to the Packers losing the game. In the second instance against the Cowboys, Green Bay was about to go up 14-0 and looked to be in complete control when Brandon McManus' extra point attempt was blocked and returned the other way, giving Dallas much-needed momentum that changed the entire course of the game.

This has to be a focal point for LaFleur over the bye week. Whether that's relieving Rich Bisaccia of his duties or really trying to hammer down what the problems are, this needs to get figured out immediately.

If time management and special teams miscues can get sorted out, then perhaps that same Packers team we saw dominate over the first two weeks of the season can return and fans can start dreaming of green and gold confetti at the Super Bowl.
