Coming out of their bye week, the Green Bay Packers weren't exactly left riding momentum. A tie with the Dallas Cowboys feels like it was both months ago, and at the same time, just like yesterday.
Fortunately for Green Bay, it's early enough to where winning still cures all. There are plenty of games left and the Packers have more than enough time to put themselves in position for a playoff run. But, what if Brian Gutekunst decided to bolster this roster even more in the coming weeks?
The NFL trade deadline is November 4, this year, and there are some intriguing names who could be moved. One of those names comes by way of another NFC contender, believe it or not. The Seattle Seahawks might be willing to part with a former rookie standout, cornerback Riq Woolen.
Riq Woolen would be well-worth a gamble for Brian Gutekunst and the Packers
The 2022 fifth-round pick earned a Pro Bowl nod in his first season as a pro, but over the past three years, he's fluctuated between being a starter and a backup. Woolen's play has been about as up and down as any Seahawks defender during that time period, but there is no denying that, when he's good, Woolen is very good.
This is still a player who has come up with double-digit pass breakups in every season of his career, so far, and has a total of 11 interceptions over his first three seasons (none this year, yet).
Woolen's physical giftings were absolutely terrifying to opposing offensive coordinators coming out of college. The 6-foot-4 cornerback also possesses some of the best top-end speed at his position, in all of football. That type of size and speed combination is rare to see.

The Packers currently have the league's 11th-ranked pass defense, which might come as a surprise to some fans. Of course, we had the Jaire Alexander saga take up the early goings of this past offseason. Since his exit, the Packers really did lean into the talent on their roster in addition to the Nate Hobbs signing.
While Keisean Nixon has had some standout moments along with Carrington Valentine, adding someone like Woolen wouldn't hurt. To get that kind of depth at what was looked at as a potential weakness could truly be a difference-maker in the NFC North.
If the Packers were able to land Woolen for a Day 3 pick and give him a fresh start, maybe that's the key to unlocking consistency from the former UTSA star. In conjunction, Green Bay adds fuel to their secondary for the end-of-season stretch.
Let's say a deal like this pushes the Packers inside being a top-10 pass defense. The Vikings are currently third in the NFL in this category, but they don't have a Micah Parsons. Would this be enough to truly cement themselves as the division's top overall defense?
