Jerry World? More like Bizarro World. The Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys always save their strangest games for AT&T Stadium.
The Packers enter their much-needed by week with a feeling of uncertainty, having just played out a wild 40-40 tie against the Cowboys.
Talk about a confusing game. Green Bay's dominant defense evaporated, allowing Dallas to march up and down the field, even without CeeDee Lamb. But Jordan Love and the offense, despite piecing together a makeshift offensive line, came to life. Love threw for 337 yards and three touchdowns. The run game got it done, too, averaging 4.7 yards per carry.
The one constant? Green Bay's disastrous special teams. At least there was some normality, I guess.
But it's hard not to feel indifferent. The Packers are now 2-1-1 as they enter a crucial week off.
Packers need to use their time off to get healthy and reflect on a bizarre performance
Where did the pass rush go? Why is the special teams regressing? What's with the penalties piling up again? Matt LaFleur has plenty to figure out in the week ahead.
The Packers were the darlings of the league after a 2-0 start, but they have begun their road slate with an embarrassing loss and a questionable tie. It's now over to LaFleur to reflect and learn before returning for the Cincinnati Bengals at Lambeau in Week 6.
Green Bay looked to be cruising to victory in the first quarter after racing out to touchdowns on two of its opening three drives. But the Packers-Cowboys rivalry doesn't work that way. These games are rarely without drama.
Green Bay opened the door for a comeback with a blocked PAT that Dallas returned for two points, another unacceptable special teams blunder that provided a three-point swing in the contest. It swung momentum, and the Packers' defense struggled to slow down the Cowboys' offense as the game went on.
With Dallas' focus understandably focusing on slowing down Micah Parsons, Green Bay needed another defensive player to step up. That became far tougher once defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt left the game with a knee injury.
Parsons did crucially save a touchdown as Dak Prescott attempted to run into the end zone in overtime. It resulted in a Dallas field goal, which Green Bay later wiped out as time expired.
Nobody knows how to feel after a game like this, but LaFleur enters the bye week with plenty of questions.
