Green Bay Packers fans have rallied around the number '27' this year because of the franchise's history with 27-year-old quarterbacks. You know the deal: Bart Starr, Brett Favre, and Aaron Rodgers all won their first NFL title at that age, and now Love is 27 himself.
Unfortunately, he had to celebrate his 27th birthday having suffered the Packers' second loss of the season.
Packers fans had hoped that this game against the lowly Carolina Panthers would serve as the springboard for the number of destiny to begin to take hold of the 2025 NFL season. Instead, the number trolled the entire fanbase en route to a 16-13.
Packers' number of destiny turned ironic for Jordan Love's birthday
There were, of course, 29 points scored in this game, thanks to Carolina breaking the tie at 26 total points. Coming into the game, Green Bay was averaging 27.6 points per game. Now the Packers are averaging 25.8 points per game.
Love completed just 26 passes. Of course, his interception, caught by Tre'von Moehrig at the 26-yard line, is one of the passes that, if completed instead, might have given him a cleaner number. For Moehrig, it was his first interception since October 27, 2024, in a game his former Raiders lost to Kansas City 27-20.

Maybe the silver lining of the interception is that Love now has 28 career interceptions thrown. It's not scientific to the inner workings of the sport, but maybe the universe didn't like the vibes of Love having 27 career interceptions at this apex moment.
The number's trolling continued beyond Love, though. Josh Jacobs got into the end zone against Carolina, scoring his 26th total touchdown as a Packer. That's 26 touchdowns in 25 games for him, so something has to give next week for the fellow 27-year-old, right?
The ground game had more to give, as Emanuel Wilson averaged 2.7 yards per carry on six rushes.
As for the Packers' defense, in the first half, a beach ball blew onto the field and disrupted the game for, no joke, 27 seconds.

How about one that's a bit of a stretch for the defensive side? The leading tacklers for each team in this game, Christian Rozeboom and Xavier McKinney, combined for just 24 tackles, so a poor trolling effort there. However, Rozeboom wears number 56 and McKinney wears 29. 56-29=27.
My own jokes aside, it's nonetheless strange that Packers fans are so invested in this number, and just when they might have thought the destiny of it all would really start to take off, it just trolled the fanbase with a bunch of almost situations and loose connections.
Still, Packers fans shouldn't have lost too much faith in the number. Rodgers lost five games in his Super Bowl season, while Favre and Starr each lost three. This second loss for Green Bay (as much as it may feel like the third) isn't going to crush all hope of the number of destiny coming through in the end.
