There is one thing even more rare than actual trades of substance at the NFL Trade Deadline: Three-team trades in the NFL. But sometimes, the perfect situation calls for a rare solution, and that might be exactly what's facing a team like the Green Bay Packers right now.
The Packers have assets on their roster that could provide value to a lot of different teams. The problem with striking trades at the annual in-season trade deadline is that you don't want to make any "panic" moves, giving up too much value for too little in return.
But a three-team trade, while extremely rare, could be the ticket to not only the Packers maximizing value and addressing a key need, but for other teams out there looking to cash in at the deadline.
Dontayvion Wicks could land Packers a stud CB, but a 3-team trade may be required
Here is a breakdown of the three-team trade that is just so crazy, it might actually work.
- Packers get: CB Alontae Taylor
- Bills get: WR Dontayvion Wicks
- Saints get: Fourth-round pick and fifth-round pick (from Bills)
There may be some numbers to crunch as far as what draft compensation goes back to the Saints, and who gives up what picks, but something like this could make a lot of sense.
This would allow the Packers to get a cost-controlled rental at the cornerback position with future upside, and someone who has been productive. And they would do it without giving up any draft picks in this scenario.

It would allow the Saints to recoup some much-needed draft assets with only six in the war chest for 2026, and it would allow the Bills to address their wide receiver position, which is currently in bad shape. And Wicks would fit exactly what that offense absolutely loves. He could thrive there.
As much as the Packers would hate to see Wicks go, there just aren't enough targets to go around, and at some point, you've got to strike while the iron is hot. There are so many other options in the passing game right now for the Packers, but the options at cornerback are slim.
That's precisely why a three-team trade could make sense. The Saints might not be a player-for-player destination for a guy like Wicks right now. The Bills don't have a cornerback the Packers would realistically want in exchange for Wicks.
But if these teams get creative, everyone can scratch each other's backs.
