Packers draft pick is barely hanging on (and no one is talking about it)

The Green Bay Packers have a history of taking offensive linemen picked on Day 3 and turning them into solid starters. Look no further than Rasheed Walker, Zach Tom, and Jon Runyan Jr. Brian Gutekunst may have thought he could replicate that developmental magic with Travis Glover in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

As things stand right now, however, Glover is closer to looking for employment elsewhere than he is to becoming a long-term starter in the Packers' offense. After all, Green Bay spent a ton of resources on improving Jordan Love's line.

Not only is 2024 first-rounder Jordan Morgan expected to ascend to the starting lineup at some point in the near future, but Green Bay used two draft picks, one in the second round and one in the seventh round, to select linemen like Anthony Belton and John Williams, respectively. The Packers also paid well above market value to sign left guard Aaron Banks in free agency.

There are a ton of cooks in the kitchen, and the new influx of talent might be just enough to cost Glover a spot on the roster ahead of this season.

Glover was always viewed as a developmental prospect after arriving from tiny Georgia State, but the way Green Bay has allocated some of their resources this offseason has made it very clear that they are not very interested in working with him every step of the way in his professional career.

Glover's most noteworthy action in the pros came in the postseason against the Philadelphia Eagles, where he was penalized three times and was benched after filling in for Elgton Jenkins. While he was thrown into the fire in an incredibly difficult situation for any lineman, this is still not a great look.

Glover's best bet is to beat out both Williams and undrafted free agent Brant Banks to secure the backup right tackle job, as Green Bay has beefed up their depth around him in the offseason. He has the talent to do so, but the man with 57 college starts under his belt needs to get his mojo back.

Glover's draft status means that Green Bay is not going to give him very many opportunities to work out some of the problems in his game. One more bad preseason could be enough for Matt LaFleur to cut ties with the former Day 3 pick.
