The Green Bay Packers pulled out a close 27-20 win over the New York Giants on Sunday, but they didn’t escape the game without a couple of injury scares. The biggest scare came with running back Josh Jacobs, who left the game in the second quarter with a knee injury and didn’t return. With Jacobs having to wait until Monday morning for additional testing, everyone was holding their breath and hoping for good news. That good news is here.
On Monday, it was reported that Jacobs doesn’t have any structural damage, and is considered day-to-day. While, the running back could miss Green Bay’s Week 12 game against the Minnesota Vikings, the injury is considered minor, and Jacobs will be back on the field soon.
#Packers standout RB Josh Jacobs’ knee is structurally sound and no surgery is needed, per me and @TomPelissero.

Josh Jacobs avoids major knee injury, but could miss Packers Week 12 game
This is great news for Jacobs and Green Bay, because the running back is expected to be available as the team makes a push towards the playoffs and a Super Bowl, and he could also be available for the majority of Green Bay’s upcoming stretch of NFC North games. In the next three weeks, the Packers will play the Vikings, Detroit Lions, and Chicago Bears. With the Bears sitting at 7-3, the Packers at 6-3-1, and Detroit at 6-4, Green Bay’s performance in these games could go a long way in deciding a division champion.
The Packers are at their best when Josh Jacobs is on the field, so even if he has to miss Sunday’s game against Minnesota, having him back in the lineup against Detroit and Chicago will be massive. Hopefully, the running back is able to heal up in time so that he can have an impact on those massive games.
On the season, Jacobs has played in all 10 games, recording 648 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns, while also adding 28 receptions for 237 yards. When the three-time Pro Bowl running back is rolling, life is much easier for quarterback Jordan Love, and the Packers offense is much more productive when the run game is clicking. That’s why it’s great news that Jacobs avoided a major injury, and will return to the field soon for the Packers.
