The Green Bay Packers suffered several injuries in their ugly victory over the New York Giants, but none were more concerning than Josh Jacobs'.

Jordan Love also briefly left the game, but he returned and led a fourth-quarter rally. But Jacobs, dealing with a knee injury, couldn't return. Matt LaFleur gave a vague update postgame, saying he's "always concerned" when a player can't finish the game.

Fortunately, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero provided far more detail than LaFleur, and it's good news.

"Jacobs will undergo more tests Monday on his left knee, but the initial belief is he avoided a significant injury, per sources," Pelissero reports. "Jacobs returned briefly after jamming his knee into the MetLife turf before leaving for good. There’s optimism he'll be back soon."

Josh Jacobs avoided a long-term injury in Packers' win over Giants

It's still unclear how much time, if any, that Jacobs will miss. That's understandably concerning, as the Packers' next three games are against NFC North rivals, including a short turnaround from next week's game against the Minnesota Vikings to a Thanksgiving showdown with the Detroit Lions.

But the key is that Jacobs avoided a long-term injury and should be "back soon."

Green Bay still found some success on the ground without Jacobs on Sunday. Emanuel Wilson ran 11 times for 40 yards and an 11-yard touchdown, which was brilliantly blocked by the offensive line. Chris Brooks added eight yards on one run, although his biggest impact came from some outstanding blocking. He prevented a blitz from getting home and held his block long enough for Love to hit Savion Williams on a crucial 33-yard reception.

But with three NFC North showdowns on deck, the Packers need their star running back available as soon as possible. There was concern after Jacobs walked down the tunnel and couldn't return, but it sounds like he has caught a break and shouldn't miss much time.
