Packers named NFL's scariest potential Wild Card team (and for good reason)

The rest of the NFC won't want to meet the Packers.

There is no doubt that the Green Bay Packers are one of the best teams in the league this season, and their 9-3 record can certainly attest to that.

Green Bay's record would be good enough to lead half of the divisions in the NFL and would qualify as second-best in all but one. Unfortunately for the Packers, the NFC North is that division, and they currently sit in third place. While this is not optimal by any means, there is some light at the end of the tunnel for Green Bay and its potential spot in the NFC Playoffs.

Should the Packers remain behind either Detroit or Minnesota in the NFC North standings, they are destined to play on Wild Card Weekend.

If that is indeed what plays out by the end of the season, Green Bay could be in position to upset one or more higher-seeded teams in the playoffs, and this is a belief that is shared by at least one other person.

B/R names Packers the 'scariest' team that could clinch a wild-card spot

Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox ranked the potential Wild Card teams by how scary they are, and the Packers have taken the top spot on this list. Knox pointed out that Green Bay can win in more than one way.

"They can run the ball, shred secondaries, stop the run and generate turnovers (11 INTs, 13 forced fumbles)," writes Knox.

It is clear this plays a big role in being ranked number one here. However, it is not just the way they've won games this year, but the fact this would not be the first playoff run for this team that gives the Packers the edge over the Vikings, Ravens, and Broncos.

"The league's youngest team in 2023 strutted into Dallas and steamrolled the Cowboys and then came within a few plays of knocking off the 49ers," Knox added.

Having experience in the playoffs is valuable, and that experience, being in the form of winning games, takes that to the next level. There is a very real scenario that sees the Packers go on an extended playoff run despite coming in as a Wild Card team, and every team they might face along the way should definitely be scared about that prospect.
