The Green Bay Packers don't typically make aggressive moves at the trade deadline, but then again, they also don't draft wide receivers in the first round or give up multiple firsts in a deal for a superstar like Micah Parsons. So if we've learned anything, it's that this year's Packers have thrown their rulebook out the window.

And they might not be done yet. According to Easton Butler of Packer Report, the Packers have made multiple calls about a trade for a running back before the November 4 deadline.

The most notable is Miami Dolphins star De'Von Achane. The Dolphins are in free fall, having started 1-6, and if the Packers could somehow get a deal over the line for Achane, it would make their offense borderline unfair.

While unlikely, a Packers trade for De'Von Achane would take the offense to unstoppable heights

Butler noted that the Packers have only checked in with the Dolphins about the potential price of a trade for Achane. For now, there's nothing more. But the fact that they have even gone that far is notable.

So, let's dream for a moment. Why would adding a playmaker like Achane be such a game-changing move for Matt LaFleur's offense? In short, you won't find a better complement to Josh Jacobs.

Everyone talks about the Detroit Lions' combination of Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery, also known by their "Sonic and Knuckles" nickname. Gibbs provides elite speed, like Sonic, while Montgomery adds the power to Detroit's rushing attack.

The Packers would form an even more formidable pairing with Jacobs and Achane.

Jacobs is a defense's nightmare. He boasts PFF's highest rushing grade entering Week 8 and rarely goes down after first contact. Last season, he forced 78 missed tackles, the third-most in the NFL, and he has already forced 21 misses in six games. Including the playoffs, Jacobs has scored 14 touchdowns in his past 15 games.

Achane would provide the lightning to Jacobs' thunder.

He runs a 4.32-second 40-yard dash, and, per Next Gen Stats, clocked 21.93 mph and 21.76 mph on touchdown runs of 67 and 76 yards in 2023, respectively. Achane is a home-run hitter and would provide the big-time, explosive runs the Packers lack on the ground.

Defenses already have nightmares trying to tackle Jacobs. Now imagine bringing a fresh Achane onto the field to take advantage of tired defenders.

Is it likely? Probably not. The Dolphins won't want to give up on Achane for nothing, and if he becomes available, a more running back-needy team may be able to offer a better deal. It's not a pressing need for the Packers, who have solid backup from Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks, Achane's former teammate in Miami.

They also hope to get MarShawn Lloyd back from injured reserve at some point, although there has been no indication that it's imminent.

However, let's not forget that the Packers went all-in the moment they traded for Parsons. Adding an absolute game-changer on offense would only boost their Super Bowl hopes, both this season and for the next few years.

Per Butler, they've at least made a call. Hopefully, an opportunity will arise in the weeks ahead.
