Green Bay Packers fans couldn't believe the news that trickled in on Thursday afternoon that the Pack had officially traded for Dallas Cowboys pass-rushing phenom Micah Parsons. Packers fans dreamed of their favorite team acquiring Parsons, but probably didn't actually expect it to happen.
Well, one hefty extension, one Kenny Clark, and two first-round picks later, the deal was done and Parsons was a Packer. It's hard to find fault with this trade, but of course, since the world isn't always a kind place, some people are going to be focusing on the negatives and what could go wrong with this deal.
Rob Demovsky of ESPN appeared on The Dan Patrick Show on Friday to talk about the Parsons trade and was asked by Patrick how the deal could not work out for Green Bay. His answer, while people don't want to hear it, makes plenty of sense.
"Obviously if Parsons gets hurt, it's a disaster, right because you paid him all this money, you don't have your draft picks," Demovsky replied. "As long as Micah Parsons is the Micah Parsons that we've seen for the last four years... This is a team that has not had a player, a single player, with double-digit sacks in a season since the year before Micah Parsons came into the NFL."

Anytime a team trades for a player of Parsons' ability, the one big question mark will be injuries. Fortunately, Parsons has been mostly healthy since entering the league in 2021. He missed four games last year with an ankle sprain and then injured his back in July while he was in training camp with the Cowboys.

As Demovsky said though, if the Packers get the Parsons that we've seen wreaking havoc in the NFL since he entered the league, it'll be considered a successful trade for Green Bay. The Packers have desperately needed a game-changer in the pass-rushing department and Parsons gives them exactly that.
It's natural to think of how a trade can go awry, but Packers fans shouldn't be thinking about worst-case scenarios right now.
Enjoy this moment, and hopefully Parsons rewards the Packers for swinging this deal.
