Packers' rival would be flirting with disaster if this trade happened

Oh noooooo not that.

Sometimes an idea comes along that's so revolutionary, so ingenious, that we're forced to write about it. This idea may not have all that much to directly do with the Green Bay Packers, ultimately, but that's okay – the ripple effects of such a smart idea will be felt in Green Bay, and that's what's important.

This specific idea comes from Bleacher Report, who have made it a habit of cornering the market on great offseason ideas. They took a look at every NFL team and decided on one player who should absolutely be traded before training camps kick off at the end of July, and one specific idea is the greatest of them all: the Chicago Bears decimating their defensive line depth for ... reasons.

But who needs reasons when the premise of the idea is so strong? There are no bad ideas in a brainstorm.

Bleacher Report thinks the Bears should ruin their defensive line depth, and we agree

"The problem is that with (Grady) Jarrett in Chicago and promising youngster Gervon Dexter also on the roster, the role moving forward for veteran nose tackle Andrew Billings is unclear," writes Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report. "The 30-year-old has missed significant time in three of the past five seasons—including nine games a year ago with a torn pectoral muscle. But when healthy, Billings is a capable lane-clogger, and he could net a Day 3 pick from another club this summer—especially if a team suffers an injury along the interior of the defensive line."

I could not agree more.

The Bears should trade one of their better defensive linemen just because. Even though the last Super Bowl was quite literally won because of a dominant defensive front, the Bears can probably figure out another way to win, something they've shown a real talent at over the last five decades.

I'm sure 32-year-old Grady Jarrett will hold up just fine over 18 weeks and a deep playoff run. And you know what's better than a useful depth piece? A Day 3 pick that could – one day – be a useful depth piece.

Be bold, Chicago. Trade away your good players. Show the league, once and for all, that actual defensive line depth is nothing compared to hypothetical defensive line depth. That'll show everyone.
