The Green Bay Packers used their first- and third-round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft on wide receivers, selecting Matthew Golden and Savion Williams, respectively. This has led to a logjam at the position as the Packers' top four wideouts from 2024 -- Jayden Reed, Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Dontayvion Wicks -- all remain on the roster. Does something have to give?
Stars like Micah Parsons and Terry McLaurin have requested trades this offseason. Alex Kay of Bleacher Report named four players who could soon do the same, including Doubs.
"While the Nevada product has held an important but slightly limited role in the Packers' passing attack, he may not be too happy with the prospects of it being further diminished in 2025," writes Kay. "Moving Doubs would not only free up a roster spot, but it would also help bring clarity to the team's pass-catching pecking order and potentially return even more draft capital than the Packers would receive via the NFL's compensatory pick formula for departing free agents."
Packers' WR injury crisis could derail a perfect opportunity to trade Romeo Doubs
A trade makes sense. The timing? Less so. Green Bay has been hit hard with injuries, including Doubs himself, who fortunately avoided a serious injury after a concerning moment at practice.
Additionally, Reed, Wicks, Williams, and Watson all missed the preseason opener. The first three are expected to be ready for the start of the regular season, but Watson is likely to begin the year on the PUP list.

The sheer amount of injuries to the Packers' wide receiver room could signal that Doubs will likely begin the season with the team and won't get traded.
Beyond that, a trade could make sense.
Doubs was one of three Packers wide receivers, along with Reed and Wicks, to drop at least seven passes last season. He has struggled with 22 drops in his three-year career. The Packers also suspended Doubs for one game last season due to reported frustration with his role. His opportunities likely won't increase in such a crowded room.
He has otherwise performed well.
In 43 career games, the fourth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft has recorded 1,700 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns on 147 receptions.
Doubs would likely receive plenty of interest if the Packers considered a deal, but it would come with risk, especially given their injury situation.
