The Green Bay Packers' offensive line has come under fire in recent weeks. Injuries have unsettled the continuity up front, and with starters like Zach Tom and Aaron Banks missing time, the underwhelming results are hardly surprising.

One consistent starter, though, is Elgton Jenkins. He is the only Packers offensive player not named Jordan Love to play every snap this season.

The Packers need far more from their veteran, who is raising serious concerns after the start he has made in a new position.

Elgton Jenkins is nowhere near his best, raising concerns for Packers' offense

Green Bay's offensive line problem is no secret. The decision to hand Aaron Banks $77 million already looks like a mistake, while the team needs more from second-year Jordan Morgan and experienced starting left tackle Rasheed Walker.

But Jenkins' performances might cause the most panic.

A two-time Pro Bowler at left guard, the soon-to-be 30-year-old hasn't made the smooth transition to center the Packers hoped for. According to Pro Football Focus, Jenkins has allowed more sacks in four games (two) than in the past two seasons combined (one).

His 64.7 pass-blocking grade is the worst of his career. The only time he came close was in 2022, when he received a grade of 67.8. For perspective, the Packers had him play at right tackle for the first five games, where he allowed two sacks and 12 pressures.

Matt LaFleur moved him back to guard after that, where he allowed just one sack and five pressures in the remaining 10 contests.

The Packers have had Jenkins move positions again this season, and the results are just as concerning.

Center should come naturally to Jenkins, as he played there in college. It also doesn't require the same dramatic transition that a switch to right tackle presents.

But in the first quarter of the season, the move isn't working. Jenkins' 59.0 PFF grade is good for just 32nd among 48 centers. The Packers need far more from their Pro Bowler. A return to left guard isn't coming anytime soon, with free-agent addition Banks holding that position.

Green Bay has a championship defense, and Jordan Love is playing at an elite level. But for this team to meet its lofty ambitions, the offensive line must play its part, and that requires Jenkins bouncing back after the bye week.
