Yep, we're talking about this again, because now ... things are becoming even more real.
The Green Bay Packers had their turn shocking the league with a Micah Parsons trade last year, but in the coming days, it may just be their most bitter rival doing the honors.
Much has been made about the possiblity of the Las Vegas Raiders trading star defensive end Maxx Crosby this offseason. The 28-year-old has four double-digit sack seasons under his belt and simply wants to win, but he won't disparage the Raiders. So, at this point, all of the whispers and possible movement are happening behind the scenes and without Crosby's comment.
In the potential race for Crosby, a new team has taken over the top spot. According to the latest from Draft Kings Sports Book, the Chicago Bears are now the favorite to land Crosby at +200 odds.
In short: buckle up. This is no longer just a fantasy for Bears fans. It's turning into what would be a full-fledged nightmare for the Packers.
The Green Bay Packers would endure insult to injury with a Bears-Maxx Crosby trade
Eight years ago, the Bears traded for Khalil Mack. That was all good and dandy for Bears fans, except ... how'd that Week 1 game go again?
How did that entire saga end?
The Bears traded Mack after a handful of seasons with really nothing to show for it.
Now, if the Bears were to pull off a trade for Crosby, things start to become real. This Bears team is no longer the butt of jokes. Unfortunately for Packer fans, the Bears are becoming a legitimate, competitive team.
On the Packers' end, yeah, they have Parsons. But, they have Parsons currently returning from a torn ACL. All signs point to Parsons coming back to full health and being the same guy he was, but something just doesn't feel right about the Bears landing Crosby.
The Bears and their fan base would feel actual hope. They'd have reason to do so. The Packers, meanwhile, have to wait and see about Parsons' return while answering a few other offseason questions.
Packer fans do not have much room to complain with how this team has flat-out dominated Chicago over the years, but that doesn't mean a shift like this is any easier. Quite frankly, it's fun to watch your team wipe the floor with a rival, time and time again, right?
Crosby in Chicago only further closens the gap between the Bears and Packers, and in Green Bay, that isn't the norm.
